The intention
There is something slightly odd about putting your own association in the “projects” section. We’ll own it: MUSIMA is, today, a project being built, and pretending otherwise would cut against everything we say on the other pages.
So the idea is to build it in the open. What is done, what is stuck, what we are looking for: it is written here and kept up to date. If we ask people to tell their story without touching it up, the least we can do is start with our own.
Where it stands
Done. The positioning is settled: shine a light on what Africans are building, without misery and without a showroom. The website exists. The first gathering has a date — 26 September 2026, in Barcelona.
Under way. Registration with the Register of Associations of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The search for a venue for the 26th. Invitations to the first speakers.
Not started yet. The budget. The statutes published online. Translating the site, which is now in progress: in Barcelona, publishing only in French was a limit we wanted rid of quickly.
What we are looking for
A room in Barcelona for about thirty people on a Saturday late afternoon. No auditorium needed: a space, chairs, and somewhere to boil water.
People to invite. If you have built something here and are willing to talk about it without dressing it up, write to us. If you know someone like that, pass this page on.
Occasional help: photographing a gathering, translating a page, working the door one evening. Nothing that asks you to commit for a year.
How to pitch in
The simplest thing is still to write. We answer everyone — that is easier when you are starting out, so we may as well make the most of it.
